This Just In: Sephora PH and BeautyMNL Hauls

Happy New Year, makeup junkies! Let's end 2016 with a bang!

For my last post of the year, I will be showing you my recent hauls. Right before 2017 officially starts.

Since Sephora PH was nice enough to give me a discount for my birthday (plus the 2x reward points), AND they had the 12 days before Christmas gifts offer, I decided it's now or never, and grabbed the chance to finally get the palette of my dreams from Zoeva. After stressing over which palette to get, I was torn between the first/original Cocoa Blend and Naturally Yours, I opted to get the Naturally Yours Palette (Php 1,106) instead since Cocoa Blend is too similar to the palettes I already own. And because I dislike paying for delivery fees, I also added Too Faced's Let it Glow (Php 1,618) to take advantage of their free shipping (applies to orders above Php 1,300). As for my limited editon "free gift" (for Php 2,000 worth of purchases) , I picked the Mirenesse Secret Weapon Supreme 24Hr Mascara (Php 1,541) and an Enzo Laszlo draw string pouch.

The other haul I'd like to share with you is from BeautyMNL. They had free shipping this month (for up to 2 orders) which I took advantage of to order stuff I've always wanted to try and to throw in some Christmas shopping as well.
I got several face masks, lip and cheek stains, hand sanitizers, a Spa set (includes a massage oil and body scrub), a Rosehip Oil, and tubs of cold sugar wax as gifts to friends and family. I also ordered a perfume, a setting powder, creams, and liquid lipsticks for myself.

Finally, I also ordered a couple of travel-sized makeup products from Usmadefashion on Instagram. The bundle cost Php 699 (plus Php100 for shipping), which includes Kat Von D's Liquid Lipstick in Lovesick, Benefit's Sugarbomb blush, and a sachet of Hask's Kalahari Oil Color Protection Shampoo & Conditioner.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lovesick

What it is:
A long-wear, full-coverage liquid lipstick with a smooth, matte finish.

What it does:
Now in 28 bold shades, Everlasting Liquid Lipstick gives lips long-lasting wear and high-pigment color. Its creamy, color-rich formula glides over lips like a gloss but dries to a true matte finish. It’s infused with natural comfort-enhancing ingredients, including vitamin E and sunflower seed so you can flaunt lasting matte color that leaves lips feeling comfortable.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
- Parabens
From www.sephora.com

Kat Von D Lovesick Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is described as a “mauve nude.” It’s a muted, medium-dark pinky-plum with cool undertones and a matte finish. It had fairly opaque pigmentation, though there was a hint of the natural lip color coming through. The color applied evenly, though, and was easy to work with. The texture was lightweight, comfortable to wear for the first five hours, and then drying for the next few (total wear of seven hours).
From www.temptalia.com

Benefit Sugarbomb Shimmer Blush

What it is:
A "sugar rush flush" facial powder.
What it does:
Gimme some sugar—with Sugarbomb! These four unique shades of rose, shimmering pink, soft plum, and peach blend together perfectly for a delicious "sugar rush flush."
From www.sephora.com
Benefit Cosmetics Sugarbomb($28.00 for 0.42 oz.) is the newest powder addition to Benefit’s line-up. It joins cult favorites like CORALista and Hoola, and Benefit describes it as a “sugar rush flush” for the face.
The powder comes with four triangles of color, which Benefit describes as “rose, shimmering pink, soft plum, and peach.” The powder is designed to be used all at once, rather than one triangle at a time. I’d completely agree with that notion, particularly because the space is just not big enough to really grab one shade over another that well.
When swirled together, the outcome is a beautiful peachy-pink shade with a very, very subtle golden sheen. This is half blush, half highlighter, because it’s not ultra pigmented and on my skin tone (which you could describe as “medium”), while it shows up, it looks very soft. It’s certainly not invisible (which would make it more like a highlighter), but it’s not vibrant. This is good and bad, depending on your usage — but it’s a good thing to me.
From www.temptalia.com
And that wraps up this post, I have a couple more packages on their way, but I probably won't receive them until next year. Let me know if you'd like to see reviews of any of the products, I've posted.

See yah next year! 💋

Unboxing: BDJ's December 2016 Elite Box

Christmas is just around the corner, but, when I received BDJ's December Elite box, it felt like Christmas has already arrived! I was surprised at how heavy and full to the brim it was when I opened it!

At first, I hesitated, and had second thoughts about subscribing, since I already received a Céleteque exclusive box from them last year and was thinking I might receive the same products or repeat items. But, after seeing their sneak peeks and their claims about getting 6x the value of the money you spend (Php 1480/box), I caved in. If you'd like see that unboxing you can check it here.
It was super exciting for me as I received 15 items that are mostly full-sized (with the exception of the mist and the cleansing oil). Castor Seed oil in the formula provides intense hydration that keeps lips healthy, while Panthenol moisturizes lips and makes it softer and smoother with each use.

Group pic! Lol!

I'm glad Céleteque came out with more makeup products to add to their Dermocosmetics line. On top of that, I feel this time, their color selection is more on point. They covered a lot, from nudes/browns, to pinks/purples and reds even greys and blacks. They kept the same packaging, which is no longer as horrible as I first thought it was, probably because I already got used to it. My only gripe now is because I had to open around 15 boxes, it was a chore and they didn't make it any easier. The boxes were really a challenge to open! Imagine me struggling to open them at 3 in the morning, trying to keep it down so as not to disturb my sleeping husband and son, and fighting the urge to just rip the boxes. Also, if I were to buy these, they are on the pricier side (in  Kathleenlights' voice: "Dats expensive..."), it's a good thing, BDJ thought of putting these in their boxes.

To sum it up, BDJ did an exceptionally good job partnering with a great brand and giving their subscribers the best bang for their buck this Christmas season.

See you on my next post! Happy Holidays!

Product Review: Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Oasis

"All good things come in small packages". This is especially true for the travel/deluxe sized makeup I recently have been obsessed with. I purchased my first ever Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush since I have been on the lookout for a long-wearing blush that can withstand the sweat and oil mine I call my face (lol!). I wanted to try Exposed since they say it looks good on a lot of skintones and it's the best.

But since I don't want to spend money (around Php 1k) on a full-sized product I might end up not liking, I opted to go with a mini-sized blush first.

The closest shade (to Exposed) I could find was Oasis (which is part of their Skin Squad Discovery Set).
A long-wearing, supremely soft blush infused with Amazonian clay harvested from the banks of the Amazon River and naturally baked by the sun.
Amazonian clay minimizes oil in and around pores to balance skin and keep product in place while also hydrating the skin naturally to restore moisture, reducing the appearance of dry, flaky skin.
Product performance: This 12-hour blush universally benefits all skin types for a fade-free, flawless finish in shades ranging from soft to vivid and matte to shimmer to suit a wide variety of skin tones.
How to: Using a blush brush, fan over the apples of the cheeks, blending along the cheekbone.
From www.tartecosmetics.com

It is a lovely nude with a hint of pink. I love how natural looking it is. And eventhough it is pigmented, it's almost impossible to go overboard. Even if you add too much, you won't end up looking like a clown.

I like how natural looking it is, in fact, you can get away with passing it off as a "real" blush/flush on the cheeks.
Just look at that swatch!
Now that I am done gushing about how beautiful this blush is, let's talk about its cons.

First off, it doesn't really last 12 hours on me, which is okay because I don't really need it for 12 hours, but I was hoping it would last at least 8 hours or a full shift at work. Sadly, on me, it only lasts 6 hours at the most (I have normal-oily combination skin). Aside from the wear time, it can also kick up a lot of powder. I suggest using a stipple brush when working with Tarte's blushes to make picking up the product easier. Lastly, although I cannot attest to this, I 've read and heard reviews about some of their shades, especially the ones they include in their holiday sets (that are made in China) from 2015 onwards, having a different formula. They say it's drier and a bit more powdery than their "original/regular" blushes.

For the final verdict... I love this blush, even with its cons!

Not having to reapply my blush until after 6 hours is good in my book (maybe they can just remove the 12 hour tagline for consumers not to expect too much). And because this color is close to perfection, I would continue to use it and hopefully, if they offer this in full-size, I can get one in the future.

'Till next time, makeup junkies!

Unboxing: Saladbox's Holiday Boxes

Hello makeup junkies!

We're almost halfway in December and it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! In fact, I just received my Saladbox Holiday Box and it is frozen-inspired, so cute! The subscription gods must have heard our fervent prayers since they decided to send full-sized products AND a Saladbox man box to those who are currently subscribed for FREE! That means even though I only subscribed for 2 months/boxes, I will get a total of 4 boxes, for a mere Php 1000. UPDATE: It might just be 3 boxes. This is based on the comments I've read. But still a great value (for me). If you'd like to know more about Saladbox and how they work, check out my post https://confessionsofamakeupjunkieblog.blogspot.com/2016/11/unboxing-saladboxs-sink-your-teeth-one.html?m=1 here!

It has a Dove Men +Care Fortifying Shampoo (50ml), a Master Oil Control Max Deep Cleanser Toner (70ml), a Pond's Men Energy Charge Whitening Foam Facial Cleanser (50g), and a Close Up Deep Action Toothpaste (95ml). In fact he was happy he got a facial wash as he just ran out of it.

Moving on to my box...
I also received 4 items which I feel I will be able to put into good use as well.

A fruity-flavored lip balm packed in a sweet and delicious-looking macaron case for that cute and trendy appeal.

This product conditions and moisturizes each hair strand for noticeably smooth and effortlessly manageable hair. Retain the look and feel of a salon fresh-cut for longer.
From http://www.tresemme.com.ph

My  husband and I loved everything in both our boxes. A far cry from the last box I received, as most (everything in my case) of the items are full-sized or at least good sized. UPDATE: They also included a discount coupon for 1 Saladbox Man subscription. This time, they listened to their subscribers! And all of these were given out of the kindness of their (generous) hearts! 😂 Definitely a great way to keep their customers satisfied, I know I am!

This Just In: Tarte, Joeur, Bench, Beauty Mnl Hauls

“You must first let go of the old before you can make room for the new.”

With the coming of the new month, comes new makeup. And to make room for them I decided to let go of some of my palettes. Now, this post is not really about those I let go of, but rather the new ones I acquired.

Let's start with the non-makeup items (but still beauty related) I got from Beauty MNL and Bench. I got myself some skincare products from Skin Genie. I loved the scrub included in my Saladbox so much, I had to try a few other items from them. It didn't hurt that Beauty MNL had free shipping until December 11 (up to 2 orders only) so I nabbed their Apple Cider Vinegar Cream (Php 350) and Pit Perfect Underam Whitening Cream (Php 200). They threw in a sachet of Coco's Secret Recipe Milk, from Dearberry for me to try, which was nice of them.

From www.beautymnl.com

After hearing that Bench has launched some new makeup items I had to check them out after passing by one outlet. I heard their nail polishes (Php 59 each) were good, so I picked one to try and a matte top coat to change it up (it turns out I won't be needing the matte top coat for this polish as it already dries down matte) if I get bored. I got a gorgeous plum shade (Midnight Plum) that would look great this time of the year. Moving on to makeup, I also got an eyeshadow stick (Sandstone) for Php 149. It's a champange color that's not glittery and I intend to use it in the inner corners of my eyes to highlight and make them pop.

  • NOT tested on animals

Eyeshadow Stick
A creamy eyeshadow that promises smooth application. Easy to blend with its sponge tip and leaves no crease.
Size: 4 gram / 0.14 oz
From http://shop.bench.com.ph

Next stop, the Tarte and Joeur products I got. Lately, I 've been obsessed with travel/deluxe-sized makeup items as they are cute, easy to slip in my bag/purse and are most of the time a steal, as I get the chance to try products without commiting to full-sized items (imagine if it turns out I don't like them) from expensive brands I would have otherwise not purchased. I've been dying to see if the hype surrounding Tarte Amazonian Clay Blushes is real so I got one in the shade Oasis (Php 550) together with their Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara(Php 500). I've heard some of their blush shades, especially the ones included in their holiday sets have a different formula (being made in China and all), so I had to do extra research to make sure this shade is still the same old formula they used to have (review coming up soon).

Lights, camera, lashes™
4-in-1 mascara

A lengthening, curling, volumizing, and conditioning mascara infused with olive esters to condition, treat, and protect lashes.

Product performance: Our lights, camera, lashes™ 4-in-1 mascara could be considered a push-up bra for your lashes—a 4-in-1 (lengthening, curling, volumizing, and conditioning) plus it’s dermatologist- and clinically-proven to increase the appearance of lash volume.

From www.tartecosmetics.com

Yeah, that blush deserves another picture.

I also couldn't let some Joeur lip crèmes pass me by without trying them.

Long-Wear Lip Crème Liquid Lipstick

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
This weightless, long-wear liquid lipstick offers full
coverage color with a soft-touch finish that glides on smoothly and lasts all day.
From www.joeurcosmetics.com

I've added them on my wishlist ever since I saw Allanarama talk about them on her videos. I got these lovely shades called Terra and Papaye. These are minis (4ml) which is around Php400.
Oh, hello there, beautiful swatches.

These next items from Etude House are things I didn't purchase but I actually won as the October commenter on Martha Sta. Barbara's blog (thanks again! ;)), www.thebeautyjunkee.blogspot.com, she holds a top commentor monthly giveaway there.

And that wraps up this month's haul! This should last me a lifetime (lol!) I think I won't be buying anything again until next year. Well, except for the subscription boxes, masks and palettes I already ordered and are on their way (Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas to me! 😂). Teehee!

Now, first off, don't get me wrong, I love how I got almost 3x the value of what I paid for. But, compared to their other exclusive boxes, this month's box is a let-down.

I was a bit disappointed since I received less items (than the last one). I would have gladly swapped the necklace and the discount coupon for a product I would really be able to use, like say, a mascara. I know their mascaras may be more costly, but hey, if they can afford to send us 6k worth of Inglot items, I don't see why they can't make/squeeze in a slightly better deal with EOH. I mean, they're selling EOH on their website, for cryin' out loud! UPDATE: I also would have loved their eyeshadow palette better if it had a matte crease/transition shade, then, it would have been the perfect travel palette. BDW, since these eyeshadows are baked, expect that they are drier compared to other eyeshadows (although they're powdery/chalky).
And after checking posts/reviews of their previous EOH exclusive box, I noticed they already sent out the same gold necklace last year. Yes, it's a beautiful necklace, and yes, I would most definitely wear it, but, why do they insist on sending these non-eye related item/s when they advertise the box to contain eye products? Plus, when I checked that box, it was when they were offering their boxes for around 500-700 pesos and the total amount of the products they got was almost the same as what I received now (I paid almost 1, 300 pesos before sf).

This box alone won't stop me from subscribing to their future boxes as I know I would still use and enjoy all of the items in this box (with the exception of the discount coupon) and I ended up getting my money's worth and more. Hopefully, their next box rocks my world!

'Till next time!
