Unboxing: Saladbox's Sink your Teeth One Last Time October Box

By now, you must be familiar with the love I have for subscription boxes. Signing up and getting a new one never fails to put me in a good mood.

I've heard and seen Saladbox in the past, in fact, it's the first subscription box in the Philippines I've learned about through social media sites.

Saladbox is the best way to discover beauty, grooming, and lifestyle products before you buy them.
Sign up to our subscription boxes and be at your most beautiful and dapper.

Although you only get samples, it is by far the most affordable subscription box available (that I know of) right now. If there's a possibility of me getting Benefit products for 500 pesos every month, then, yes, sign me up, puh-lease! But after checking their website and seeing that they have limited payment options, I was disheartened.

Fast forward to today, or sometime in September, they started accepting payments through Paypal and credit cards, and I was ecstatic.

I actually felt bad I didn't hear about it right away, because I missed their anniversary box and it was full of Benefit products. Oh well... Anyway, let's take a look at their October box which is in collaboration with The Vampire Diaries. This box is supposed to give you a vampy look to attract those ridiculously good-looking Salvatore brothers. 😁

This month includes more or less 8 sample products (some boxes include a Benefit product but maybe because I only got the special 2-month subscription plan to test it, they didn't give me one... and that made me really sad 😢), which is more than what they promised of 5 items (it's possible they didn't count the samples in sachets and they counted the Mary Kay items as one).

This box was okay for me. It was so-so because, although I already started using the products included, and I know I 'll be able to use all of them, since they are just samples, I can only use them a couple of times. I know, I know, you're probably like, "You knew their boxes only included samples and you only paid 500 pesos!". Well, what can I say, I probably got used to my other subscription boxes that really gave me a bang for my buck, now, if this included a Benefit item, then, it probably would have been a different story. I'm also kind of on the fence about their October boxes being shipped in November. That's also partly one of the reasons why I didn't subscribe sooner, but it looks like they're more consistent with shipping their boxes and are getting less negative reviews. I still have one more box to get, and after that I'd probably get a proper plan, maybe the starter plus one, just in time for December. I'm crossing my fingers hoping for more makeup and better items in my next box. 😇

See yah on my next post (I sense another haul/just in post... teehee!)!

Product Review: Becca's Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Opal

The time for me to review this beauty has finally arrived!

Yaass! Right after taking pictures of my last haul, I couldn't contain my excitement and immediately played with this baby! Becca's Opal Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed (Powder).

Becca Opal Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed ($38.00 for 0.28 oz.) is described as a “golden opal pearl.” It’s a light-medium, golden champagne with a frosted, reflective finish. -www.temptalia.com

I had to remind myself to use it sparingly, savor it and make it last as the pan is quite small and costly, compared to my other highlighters. In the end, I'm glad I went with the powder version instead of the liquid (spotlight) one, as not only does it have better reviews for oily skin, upon checking the box, the expiration of the pressed version is actually longer. It expires after 24 months from opening whereas the liquid version is good for 9 months only.

Although I did hear there is a slight difference between the two in terms of color, both have the same undertone. With the exception of the pressed version being a tad more golden compared to the spotlight.

To be honest, I didn't really need another highlighter and I was worried it would be too similar to E.L.F.'s Pinktastic, which I already have, but I couldn't pass up such a great deal!
Left: Opal      Right: Pinktastic

As you can see from the swatches above, they are still a bit different from each other. Opal (pressed) has more gold while Pinktastic is more champagne. I'm thinking, Pinktastic would be more similar to the liquid version of Opal. Now, let's talk about how different it is from (my) other highlighters.

1st: Celeteque from Blush and Face Contour Kit, 2nd: theBalm's Mary-Lou Manizer, 3rd: Becca's Opal, 4th: Makeup Revolution's Inhale, and 5th: ELF's Pinktastic

Some of you may say, they all look the same, and at first that was what I thought too, but after swatching them side by side, although similar, there are still subtle variations to these highlighters. I'm glad I didn't end up getting the exact same color/s of highlighters.

So aside from the color, being different, I feel Opal appears more glittery on the skin than my other highlighters. Don't get me wrong, the glitters are so fine, you can barely see them, plus the glitters/shimmers didn't really affect the product as it is still super fine and smooth to the touch! It is so finely-milled and soft, it almost feels creamy. And that's what I think, contributes to the "luminous" factor.

What sets this apart is it's longevity. This lasts all day! I can wear it in the morning and still see it by the time I get home at night, which is something none of my other highlighters do. The only downside is, you would have to clean up the rest of your face on the 6th hour mark as some of the glitters transfer.

A word of caution, however, since this is highly-pigment, it may emphasize your pores if applied too much. I suggest using a light hand and a fan/stippling brush or a moderately dense brush. Start with a little product and just lightly dust it on top of the cheekbones, tip of the nose and cupid's bow. Then go back and build it up if needed.

The verdict: definitely a must-have! Especially now that strobing is the new contouring! Eventhough it's on the more expensive side, you won't really be using too much of it and it can last a long time. It's of great quality, so you'd get your money's worth. Although, I still don't see myself spending almost 3k (pesos) for the full-size, this got me thinking about looking at their other shades (in deluxe sizes, lol!).

'Till the next post. You glow, girl!

This Just In: Freedom Makeup, Beauty MNL & Sample Room Hauls and Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector

In the last couple of months, maybe weeks, I've been a very good girl and have limited my makeup purchases (with the exception of one or 2 beauty boxes).

That's why it's pretty exciting for me to receive packages in the mail again! Let's start with the free items I got. I received 5 Freedom Makeup lipsticks and 5 liquid lipsticks from Filipino YouTuber Xanapea (you should watch her videos and subscribe, she's really talented! I also got a few beauty products from Sample Room using my points (they were even nice and thoughtful enough to throw in a sachet of Head & Shoulders Shampoo to use with the hair dye). I only paid shipping for these items. I will be trying these out for a week and then post reviews on their site to get my points back to use on future purchases. Product Review: Tony Moly's Tony Tint Delight in 02 Red

The first of the -ber months just ended and I can sense the hoilday traffic hovering over our heads, ready to descend on us at any moment. But, let's not fret and talk about good things instead. Like this new review I have for you, makeup junkies. 💄

Korean/Asian makeup has been all the craze right now, with the BB cushion foundation taking the makeup world by storm and the ombre lips following suit. Lip tints have been around for decades and are not necessarily asian/Korean, but this lip tint from Tony Moly (a Korean makeup brand) is a holy grail for some local YouTubers (ie. Anna Cay), I couldn't resist picking it up (or adding it to my cart 😉), eventhough I am not a huge fan of lip/cheek tints. I am not too fond of having to use it with my fingers and using it on both my cheeks and my lips (seems very unhygienic to me). What sets this apart from other lip tints? It's light-weight, gel-like consistency. I got this during National Lipstick Month/Day for Php 199 and I figured why not try it out and see what the fuss is about?

It comes in a slim, cute, and travel-friendly tube. I say cute because of it's heart-shaped cap. Although, this is not a new product of Tony Moly, they say the formula was revamped with the new packaging.
It has a long, slim wand with a slanted doe foot applicator to help you get the last bit of product (which I appreciate as I feel it's such a waste if I can't use all of it) and spread it evenly on your lips or cheeks.
I got it in 02 Red. I believe they also have it in Pink and Coral/Orange. Here's how the red one looks like swatched.

It smells fruity and sweet. It reminds me of strawberries (the artificial kind) a lot. It feels cool and light on the lips. It lasts for about 3 hours on me. It doesn't really stain the lips so it comes right off after eating or drinking. It can also feel a bit drying if worn too much for too long (I wear a balm underneath which could have been the reason why it only lasted 3 hours on me). I like how it instantly gives my lips color without looking heavy. I just have to remind myself not to get carried away as the color I got can get very bright and loud in an instant if I get too much product. You can also make ombre lips with this if you're into Korean makeup.

For the cheeks, however, it's a different story. During initial application, I loved the rosy glow it gave me. It looked so natural, (when used with a light hand and spread quickly and evenly) and it gave me the flushed look I wanted. But after several hours, I'm not sure if it's because my skin is no longer like a teen's or it's really because of the product, it  wore off uneven on me, making me look splotchy. It looked so bad my officemate asked me if I was okay because I looked like I had rashes. I literally had tiny red spots on my cheeks! I didn't want to give up on it so easily, so I tried a different foundation the next day to see if that could have been the reason, but the result was the same! Que horror!

So in reality, I could really only use this on my lips (which is initally what I intended to use it for anyway, because I didn't like having to use my fingers to spread it on my cheeks), and it works great. You just have to have a steady hand as the long, slim wand makes it a little tricky to apply. I either always mess up the sides of my lips or my lower lip. 😣 (A quick tip: Dot in the middle of your lips and spread it by pressing your lips together. Build it up if needed.) But, if you want to get this to use as a blush, beware! You have been duly warned.

Till my next post!

Product Review: Pinkies Collection's Matte Lipstick in Bark

Hiyah, lipstick lovers!

I know I purchased this lipstick weeks ago, but I never found the time to sit down and give you my thoughts about this lippie, from the local brand Pinkies Collections, until today. During my drugstore finds blog, I hauled this baby and I immediately fell in love. It was very matte, which made me fall in love with it even more. This shade, Bark, has been the talk of the town of Pinay beauty bloggers and vloggers alike since 2015. I apologize if I am late to the party and was only able to get it recently.

Pinkies Collections ML14 Bark. Php 199

Pinkies Collections is the urbane girl's favorite cosmetic. With chic and long-lasting makeup lines, Pinkies meets your delightful expectations.
From Pinkies Collections Facebook Page

It comes in  a cute baby pink square tube (slightly bigger than Maybelline's square lipstick tubes), which I personally find bulky and not so easy to hold (but is not really an issue during application). The cap is secure and clicks shut when covered. It has a mild sweet scent. The ingredients are listed on its side and a sticker at the bottom shows the lipstick shade.

It is such  a pretty mauve brown color (with a tinge of gray/gray undertones) that's perfect for everyday wear. It isn't too loud, and for some this may work as an MLBB shade, so it can be worn in the office, but it's still pretty enough to make heads turn. It wears well for a good 3 hours, with minimal drinking and eating (non-oily food). But during the 4th hour, one can start feeling their lips getting drier by the minute. But with a little lip balm, it makes wearing it less of a chore.

Until one day, whilst applying this, I suddenly had a feeling I've seen and worn this shade before. It looks very similar to something I already have...

From Top to Bottom (swatches on the left): Pinkies Collections in Bark, Pink Sugar's Xoxo, and Maybelline's Touch of Spice.

Yes, it looked, without a doubt, like my Pink Sugar XOXO lipstick! 😑 And it didn't stop there, I whipped out my Touch of Spice from Maybelline, and lo and behold, I have 3 lipsticks that are almost the same! Arrgh!!! *#/@&^! It just shows how much I love this kind of color.

Now, if you look closely, they still look slightly different. In the swatches, Bark is more brown than pink, it is also more matte. Whereas XOXO has more pink than brown, with the tiniest bit of shine (under their creamy matte line). Touch of Spice has more mauve in it, so one can tell which of the 3 it is right away. But it is essentially under the same shade family.

A word of advice, fellow makeup junkies, if you already have XOXO or Touch of Spice, you might want to pass on this, as on the lips all three, to me, look almost the same (with the exception of their finish).

Until the next post! Enjoy your long weekend. Tata!

Xoxo (will you look at that. Lol!),

Unboxing: Glamourbox's Inglot Pro Picks for Every Beauty

Hi there, makeup junkies!

Christmas came early this year! I 've never been this excited to receive a subscription box for a long time, and that's partly because I wasn't expecting this box to come until the 2nd or 3rd week of September as stated on Glamourbox's website.

But Glamourbox has never failed to deliver and satisfy their customers. Not only did they say they started shipping their boxes, they really did make sure their boxes are delivered to their subscribers within a week (I got mine the day after they announced they started shipping), unlike other subscription boxes I know. So yes, I am really pleased with how I got my box earlier than expected.

I am also ecstatic to see the contents of this month's box since Glamourbox has partnered with world-renowned makeup brand, Inglot.

From www.glamourbox.ph

I've been dying to try their products ever since they launched in the Philippines sometime in 2013.

I remember seeing their Glorietta 5 branch open the first day and was curious to see why the place was full. I remember being in awe of their selections and feeling a bit overwhelmed by the sheer amount of products they had. Fast forward to today, I finally got the chance to try some of their "Pro Picks".

Inglot Notebook

Jot down your makeup wishlists on this gorgeous notebook!

I really appreciate how they tried to include Inglot's top products, especially the Freedom System makeup items. I just wish they were able to include some kind of a palette to put the pans in or better yet, give their subscribers the option to actually pick the colors or pans themselves, since that is how the Freedom System Palette (supposed to) works. They still, however, did a good job in picking wearable colors and covering a wide range of lipstick shades to ensure that there is something for everyone.

This box is a great purchase as its contents total almost Php 6,000, when I only paid Php 1,290 (plus shipping) for it. I will definitely be waiting for Glamourbox's next subscription box.

See yah next time, fellow makeup junkies!
