Unboxing: Glamourbox's Beauties and Babies Box

2015 is about to end in a couple of weeks and I refuse to let it pass me by without posting another unboxing. I've almost forgotten I ordered this box after seeing Glamourbox's "Buy 1, Get 1 Free" offer for their Beauties and Babies box (until December 21 only), so I was pleasantly surprised to see a bigger than usual package waiting for me (Yay!). Eventhough , I am not pregnant, I can still use some of the items included in the box and also, I plan to give the other box to my (pregnant) sister.

Product Review: L'Oréal's Color Riche Moist Matte Lipstick in Black Cherry

When it comes to lipsticks, I thought matte and moisturizing cannot be used in the same sentence, so I was a bit skeptical when I saw their claim. I've always found matte lipsticks very drying. I had to wear lip balms underneath and I cannot wear them everyday for more than a week to avoid my lips from chapping. But after seeing several makeup gurus rave about this product, swatching my officemate's Black Cherry lipstick, and seeing L'Oreal on sale (I got this for Php 300 from its original price of Php 625) I had to 'bust this myth'.

L'Oréal's Color Riche lipsticks come in a chic, sleek, and expensive looking rose gold tube. It has small square button/window to indicate its color. It twists all the way down and shuts with a click to make sure it doesn't accidentally come off and mess up your bag.

I really like the intensity of Black Cherry's color. It is a very dark red almost maroon. I love how you can build this color without it feeling heavy on the lips. It lasts for up to 5 hours (without eating and with occasional drinking/coffee sipping).  It feels super creamy and soft when applied. It glides on easily on the lips before setting into a semi-matte finish. It transfers a little but not too much that it goes to my teeth. It also doesn't settle on the lines on my lips although it tends to bleed if not used with a lip liner. It also leaves a nice and even stain once it fades.

The Final Verdict: Even if I think its original price is too expensive, I still think this lippie gives you the best value for your money. It stays put and it's highly pigmented. In fact I got another one in Spring Rosette to give my sister for Christmas and I plan to get more shades, that's how much I love it! I definitely recommend this lipstick especially for the holidays.

I first learned of Ofra Liquid Lipsticks from one of my favorite Youtube makeup gurus, Kathleen Fuentes of KathleenLights. She is obssessed with liquid lipsticks. I think she has over a hundred of them in her makeup stash, and Ofra, is one of her favorites. In fact, she has collaborated with them (twice! Miami Fever and Havana Nights which I have yet to try) and made her own liquid lipsticks! So, when  I saw that Glamourbox restocked their Ofra Liquid Lipsticks in Laguna Beach and brought back their Flawless Beauty beauty box, I knew I had to get it. And I wasn't disappointed!

This liquid lipstick has a mousse-like consistency that applies like butter. It is super creamy and easy to spread. It smells like vanilla and feels lightweight on the lips. It can be a bit drying so I would recommend wearing a thin layer of lip balm underneath. Although it doesn't totally apply matte, it dries super matte. You just need to give it a minute or two to set. Once it sets, it can feel a bit tacky and sticky, sometimes a bit grainy, but once it has completely dried, you won't feel it on your lips anymore. It's as if you have nothing on them! If your lips have a lot of lines on them, you may not like this as this accentuated the lines on my lips when I am not smiling or I'm doing my resting bitch face (lol).

I am in love with Laguna Beach's mauve pinkish nude color. At first I thought it was going to be too light for me, and may not go with my skin tone well, but I was wrong. I didn't look washed out and it has just the right amount of pink to make my lips look natural but still made up. A perfect everyday color. The lighter pictures above were taken using my phone's front camera that's why the quality is not great and the color is a bit off. In real life they look more mauve pink than nude on my lips. The verdict: it's a fantastic lip product, even better now that it's available at the malls (I've seen it in SM Makati Php 850). You may want to save up and get yourself a gift for the holidays.

Unboxing: Glamourbox's Flawless Beauty Box

Just when you thought your day can't get any better... Apparently, if I thought arriving home to a package felt great, waking up to see a package addressed to you feels even more awesome! Here I was, not expecting my order until Tuesday (at the earliest), when Glamourbox gave me a very pleasant surprise. My Flawless Beauty box, ordered just a couple of days ago!

I've been looking at this box for quite some time before ordering it, since, for the longest time, Glamourbox hasn't release any new boxes. I think this has been available on their website since August or September 2014. But because of the Ofra Liquid lipstick included, I finally caved in.

So, for those who are not familiar with what Glamourbox is, it is an online store that sells beauty products, not only that, they also offer beauty subscriptions that would allow makeup enthusiasts like me an opportunity to try and discover great makeup products for less (money).

They have the following: one box ( current) box, 2 months and 3 months subscription/s. You can also send it as a gift to a friend. The price depends on what the contents of the box is. It would normally have 4-5 full sized items specifically selected for you based on your preference or what you selected when you created your beauty profile during registration. I have high hopes for their liquid brow pen which has a felt tip since that means I shouldn't be seeing eyebrow hair coming off due to the tip of the eyebrow pencil being too hard.

Hopefully, this box satiates my hunger for beauty boxes. I should be fine with not having a December box from where I normally get my subscriptions as this box has promising products! 😆

Accessorize! Layered Necklaces

Accessory is defined as something added to something else to make it more useful, attractive, or effective.

For the last couple of months I've been obssessing over  layered necklaces. Ever since I've seen my current favorite makeup guru, Kathleenlights (if you haven't watch any of her videos, GO watch her, she is AMAZING!) wear layered necklaces and unbox her jewelry subscription box. After seeing her try on several pieces, I felt like a woman on a mission to find layered necklaces. I browsed several online shops, checked the malls and even stalls in the market to look for really nice accessories, but they're either tacky or really expensive. Until I found this lovely piece from SM Makati. This was by Yansy and I got this for only Php279, still cheaper than the ones I've checked in the market.

And since I loved it so much, I decided to make my own (DIY mode ON!)! Good thing my sister gave me her "beaded" gold chain (14 inches) she no longer uses and told me about how one can purchase chains (Php10 per inch depending on the style/design) and add locks (Php 60) to them at the Landmark. I also got my mom's old necklace (18 inches) with three small circular pendants with "Life", "Love", and "Laughter" engraved on them. I just bought a twisted chain for my pearl pendant (16 inches) and arranged/layered them! Here's the end result.

Hurray for DIY and all girly things that are pretty! Now I don't feel the need to get a jewelry subscription (although I did see a very nice one from the Little Black Box check them out at http://wearlbb.com. They have a one-month, three-month, 6-month, and 12-month subscription valued at Php 1600/month, less if you get more than the 1 month sub). ;)

Product Review: Pink Sugar's HD Lipstick in Rebel

Pink Sugar is a local brand which sells affordable fragrances/body mists and more recently, cosmetics! Their products look very promising as they are specifically made for Filipinas. Their products are also Paraben-free and cruelty-free. So when I received a Pink Sugar Comsetics exclusive box from BDJ, I squealed in delight. I immediately zoomed in on the lipsticks, murmuring "Please be red" while opening them. I've seen local vloggers' swatches and knew they had really nice reds but were not very familiar with the names. The first one I got was 'Royals' which was a pretty purple color. My heart broke a little because I was hoping it would be a red matte. Good thing when I opened the second lipstick I got which is in 'Rebel', it turned out to be red! I immediately tried it and it was love at first swipe/swatch.

I used the heck out of this bad boy. You can probably tell by how it's no longer as pointed as it used to be. Lol!

It was very creamy and did not tug on my lips during application. I like how it did not dry out my lips and was buildable. Rebel is a true classic red that complements morena skin. It has a satin-cream almost semi-glossy finish and is very highly pigmented (it is HD after all!). It didn't really make my teeth look yellow but it didn't make it whiter too. I've been using it for a week and below are its Pros and Cons:

Pros:

Creamy
Buildable without issues
Moisturizes the lips

Smells great (it has a subtle sweet and floral scent)
Secure and sturdy package

Cons:

Not transfer-proof
Lasts 3-4 hours only, less if you drink or eat
Bleeds if not worn with a lipliner
Not matte
Can be unforgiving when mistakes are made as it is very vibrant (I suggest using a lip brush)

The Final Verdict: It's an awesome product! The pros still outweight the cons, as one can still work around them by reapplication, blotting/powder, using a lip liner and a lip brush. Plus, it gives you more (the most) bang for your buck!

I will definitely repurchase and try out their other colors, probably get another red from their creamy matte line. :) Now off to show this red lippie off! Toodles! 💋

Unboxing: BDJ's November Elite Box

After the horrible traffic in the metro yesterday, I was bummed I had to go to work, since it's a holiday in Makati due to the APEC Summit and all. So imagine how my heart skipped (a beat), I had to literally clutch my chest to make sure it doesn't jump out, when I saw this package on my bed! Lol! I wasn't expecting my BDJ box to come this early. Their boxes, in the last couple of months, have been (arriving) late (almost the end of the month). But still, I was happy and thankful that my box has finally arrived!

Since I've been following BDJ's Instagram and Facebook accounts, I knew their November box will contain makeup (yesss!), will be an exclusive, and based on their cryptic messages/pictures would be colorful & sweet. I kinda had a feeling it will be from the recently launched local makeup brand (they have been creating such a buzz), Pink Sugar. I have been meaning to check out their products, especially after seeing may favorite local YouTuber/makeup guru, Say Tioco Artillero wearing their lipstick. I was glad BDJ decided to partner with them this month.

Upon opening the box, one would immediately see their obligatory cards that would contain information about the products included in the box, tips on how to use them and of course the welcome message from the BDJ ministers (as seen on the first photo, lower right). For November, the theme is "Sugar, spice, and everything nice" and according to them, this month's box allows their bellas to have fun with sweet beauty delights that they can mix and match to their hearts' content. It's definitely bursting with color and will help me prep for my holiday look.

Elite boxes cost 1,480. And starting August of 2015 BDJ has been exclusively (except when they offered a Luxe Box in October for 5k; Regular Boxes are for 580Php) offering elite boxes (December 2015 boxes are already sold out and if you're interested in sunscribing to their boxes, you'd have to wait until next year or when they become available again). They promise to give you 3k worth of products or 2x the value of your money/what you paid for.

So let's talk about the products inside this month's box. It contains 9 full-sized products and the nice thing about them is, you can complete a makeup look with them as BDJ was thoughful enough to include a mix of eye, cheek, face and lip products.

Excuse my oily and almost foundation-free skin (it has been a long day!) just wanted to show you how the HD lipstick in Rebel looks like when applied. :)

All in all that's Php 3,691! Not bad, especially since I know I will be using most, if not all, of the products inside this month's box (you can check www.bdjbox.com for more information about Belle De Jour's subscription boxes). I am just dreading how bad I'd feel next month when everyone else gets their December box. They ran out really quickly and I wasn't able to subscribe. :'( Oh well, I can always reapply more of this red lipstick. 💋 Teehee.

Product Review: Céleteque's 24-Volumizer Mascara

I used to think applying mascara is something I can skip in my makeup routine, having naturally long lashes. I have tried several different mascaras, and I thought they didn't really make a lot of difference on me. And after I noticed my lashes becoming thinner and more brittle, I decided to just stop using them. Until I tried Céleteque's 24-Hour Volumizer Mascara (Php645, 6.5g).

This mascara has Acrylates Copolymer  which prevents clumping and smudging, Aloe Barbadensis that has anti-bacterial properties, Beeswax and Canuba Wax to make lashes look fuller and volumized, and Hydrogenated Palm Oil to nourish lashes. I was so happy BDJ decided to include this in their box because I would have never bought and tried this on my own! I wasn't really expecting a lot from this mascara but boy, oh boy... 😊

My lashes instantly became blacker! And eventhough it says it's volumizing I still see how it lenghtened my lashes!

                              Before application

I used the long wand for the first coat and then for the second coat, I twisted the cap to make the wand shorter and the bristles more compact to get really close and coat my shorter lashes to volumize them.

8 hours after application (two coats)

My lashes went from this, to this in a couple of minutes. Amazing!

The left picture shows bare lashes. The right one shows lashes with Céleteque's 24-Hour Volumizer Mascara (one coat).

I liked how it didn't make my lashes feel stiff and heavy. I also didn't have a hard time washing them off at the end of the day eventhough it says it's waterproof. It did smudge and flake a little after several hours as seen on the photo below. 

Also, if you're not a fan of wet formulas, this may not be for you. But since it did promise to nourish my lashes in time, hopefully that means it will strenghten them or at least won't make them brittle. From now on, I will definitely make room for this mascara in my makeup routine.
